All the Colors of the Rainbow

The kiddo loves his colors!  He goes around signing the colors of things he notices.  And he notices a lot.  So I was beyond excited when he started SAYING the colors rather than just signing them.  In this video you'll see him sign each color, as signing is just so much easier for him than talking, but with a little encouragement you'll hear him say each color of the rainbow. The words may not sound perfect, but it's incredible progress and I'm so excited to start hearing his little voice.  :)

This is huge folks!  The kiddo wasn't even babbling last year.  In five months he's gone from making sounds, to imitating our sounds, to being able to put the sounds into some semblance of words.  I can only imagine what this kiddo will be doing in another five months!

Signing

I'm a HUGE advocate of teaching babies and toddlers sign language as a means of communication.  Whether speech delayed or not, it is such a useful tool, as babies are able to sign before they are able to speak.  Some parents worry that if their child uses signs they won't then try to speak, but research has indicated that this is not the case, and in fact, using sign language can accelerate their verbal skills.  Plus, if you teach your child ASL (American Sign Language), you're introducing your child to a second language, a huge bonus. :)
